How it works

1
Submit your inventory

Share make, model, quantity, and condition per device. Photos or a short video help but are not required at this stage.

2
Remote assessment

We review your submission and confirm a credit estimate remotely (screen share or photos), or arrange a site visit if preferred.

3
Credit quote

You receive a per-device credit value and total fleet credit amount. No obligation until you accept.

4
Credits applied

Credits are deducted monthly from your rental invoice. Any unused balance at end of engagement is returned to you in cash.

What qualifies

Any device your company owns — condition and brand do not determine eligibility, they determine the credit value.

  • Any laptop brand (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, ASUS, others)
  • Any quantity — from one device to an entire fleet
  • Any condition — credit estimate adjusted per device
  • Functional display and keyboard preferred; damaged units assessed individually
  • Data wiped by JD Tech Rentals (NIST 800-88, per-SSD cert) or client first — either works
  • Exclusively for existing JD Tech Rentals customers or prospects transitioning to managed rental

Who uses this

Project phase handover

Hardware from a completed EPC or World Cup-era project sitting in storage. Convert it to credits for the next deployment rather than writing it off.

Energy sector refresh

North Field or Ras Laffan support company with aging contractor laptops. Credits offset the rental cost of the next project cycle's hardware.

Lusail office upgrade

Businesses opening in Lusail City need current-spec hardware. Trade in the old Doha office fleet and apply credits to the new rental.

Professional services refresh

West Bay consultancy or multinational with hardware that has aged out of warranty. Managed rental with buyback credits removes the refresh budget problem.

Qatar's project economy creates a regular buyback opportunity

Qatar's project-driven business model means companies regularly open and close site offices, often leaving hardware that was adequate two years ago but no longer meets spec for the next phase. EPC firms, energy sector contractors, and professional services companies in West Bay face this at scale — hardware purchased for a 2022-2023 deployment sitting in storage while newer projects demand better machines.

The buyback program converts that stored hardware into rental credits, directly reducing the cost of your new fleet rental. You receive a per-device credit estimate within one business day of submitting your inventory list. Credits are applied monthly against your rental invoice. No minimum quantity, no walk-in required.

Qatar's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 13 of 2016, actively enforced from 2024 with penalties up to QAR 5 million per violation) requires data controllers to handle personal data securely including on device retirement. Per-SSD NIST 800-88 wipe certificates, issued as part of every buyback, provide the compliance documentation your IT and legal teams need.

No company in Qatar currently offers a B2B corporate laptop buyback with rental credits as the output. Cash-for-hardware resellers and occasional OEM trade-in programs exist, but neither is designed for companies transitioning to a managed IT rental model. JD Tech Rentals holds in-country Qatar inventory — no cross-border shipping delays, no temporary import complications.

Common questions

We have 25 laptops to dispose of and need 20 machines for the next project phase. Can we do both in one engagement?

That is the core use case the program is designed for. Submit the 25 existing devices for valuation, receive your credit estimate, then request a quote for the 20 new rental machines. Credits from the buyback apply monthly against the new rental invoice. We coordinate timing so old devices are collected and new devices deployed as part of a single, planned handover.

How does Qatar's 5% VAT apply to buyback credits and rental invoices?

Qatar introduced 5% VAT effective January 2024. The credit mechanism is a deduction against your taxable rental invoice — the monthly invoice reflects the net rental charge after credit deduction, with VAT applied to that net figure. Confirm the exact VAT treatment of trade-in credits with a Qatar-registered tax adviser, as the filing position depends on your registration status and activity profile.

Can you collect devices from a project site or camp outside of Doha?

Yes. Buyback collection follows the same geography as our Qatar deployment service — Al Khor, Lusail, Al Wakrah, and project camps further afield are all covered. Remote sites have longer collection lead times, typically 2 to 3 business days. Confirm the site address at quoting stage and we build it into the collection plan.
