Coverage at a glance

Manufacturing defects

Fully covered at zero cost. If the device fails due to a manufacturing fault, repair or replacement is handled by JD Tech Rentals with no charge to you.

Accidental damage

Covered under Protection plan. Spills, drops, cracked screens — assessed at internal cost under your plan. Not at third-party market repair rates.

Theft

Client responsibility unless covered under a company insurance policy. We recommend clients add rented IT assets to their commercial property policy. We provide device serial numbers and specs on request for policy riders.

Fair wear and tear

No charge. Normal wear over the rental term — minor scuffs, key wear, slight display scratches — is expected and not charged at end of term.

Intentional damage / misuse

Client responsibility. Documented misuse is assessed individually. A transparent cost breakdown is provided before any charge is raised — no surprise invoices.

Data on returned devices

NIST-certified wipe. Every returned device is wiped to NIST 800-88 standards with a per-SSD certificate. Your data liability ends at the point of collection.

Common questions

Do we need to insure rented devices ourselves?

Manufacturing defects are covered by JD Tech Rentals at no cost. For theft and accidental damage above your Protection plan limit, we recommend adding rented IT assets to your commercial property insurance as a rider. We provide full device specs, serial numbers, and replacement values for your insurer on request.

What is the Protection plan add-on?

The Protection plan is an optional add-on to your rental agreement that covers accidental damage (spills, drops, cracked screens) at internal repair cost rather than market rates. It eliminates the risk of a large unexpected repair invoice mid-contract. Ask your account manager for the current Protection plan rate for your fleet configuration.

How is end-of-term condition assessed?

Devices are assessed at the time of collection. An engineer photographs and documents the condition of each unit. You receive the condition report within 3 business days of collection. Fair wear and tear is not charged. Any damage above that threshold is discussed with you before any invoice is raised — no surprise charges.
